What is Union Council?
Students' Union Council is the main decision making body in the Students' Union. It has the power to make decisions about Aston Students' Union policy, to put proposals to referenda (to be voted on by all students). Council oversees the work of the SU Executive Committee.
CLUBS & SOCIETIES
Attendance from at least one committee member is mandatory unless necessary apologies have been sent to union.vpsa@aston.ac.uk. All those who do not comply will have sanctions imposed upon them.
ASTON AUNTIES
Attendance at Union Council goes a long way to support any Auntie applications since involvement in the union is highly favourable.
Who can sit on it?
Council can consist of up to 200 members of the Union, made up of the Executive Officers, Standing Committees, members of clubs and/or societies and students.
If you are interested in sitting on Union Council then you can register your interest by standing for a councillor position in the below election. If you have any questions then contact the Student Voice team or the Ravi your Union Chairperson.
How often does SU Council meet?
Council meets roughly three times each Teaching Period. The days alternate to allow maximum attendance and so that no group of students is excluded because of commitments on a particular day.
