Campaigning and awareness Upholding the main aims of Amnesty International, including aims to promote freedom of speech and expression, freedom from discrimination and protecting men, women and children in situations involving denial of rights to justice and truth. 1. The Let’s Talk about Yes campaign
Engaging activists and young people of all genders and backgrounds to talk about sexual consent and contribute to a ‘consent culture’ 2. The Stop killer Robots campaign
Raising awareness against continuous proliferation of lethal autonomous weapons or ‘killer robots’ 3. The I Am Who I Say I Am campaign
Focusing on gender inclusivity and support for the LGBTQ+ community. 4. The Write for Rights campaign
Writing letters to governmental authorities for people who are in immediate danger of torture, execution, receiving and death penalty or making appeals for release of prisoners.
Other activities and events Social events for fundraising initiatives such as pub quizzes, Jamnesty socials, secret policeman’s ball and fashion shows, alongside various other autonomous fundraisers.
One-off events in collaboration with other clubs/societies and other Amnesty student groups where appropriate. Introducing new initiatives such as a monthly online newsletter, which will serve as a platform for members to contribute articles aimed at raising awareness and inspiring action against human rights abuses worldwide.
