We are excited to announce a 5th Student Officer role, Vice-President Student Communities! Read more...
Aston Students’ Union is delighted to announce a new Full-Student Officer role.
The new Vice President Communities was debated and agreed by Student Council and the Trustee Board over the last few weeks, and we are delighted to say it has now been confirmed and will become a key part of our upcoming Spring Elections.
As the number and diversity of students increase at Aston, the requirement for increased student representation, for someone to help identify and represent those many underrepresented groups, has become increasingly important and we are excited about the potential impact this new role could have.
Working as an equal part of the team, with the other officers for Education, Student Activities, Welfare, and the President, this fifth role will play a vital role in bridging the gap between various student communities and networks that exists and the Students’ Union.
We urge anyone that has been considering running for a Student Officer role over the coming weeks to give serious thought to this new and exciting role. You have an opportunity to be an inaugural Student Officer and shape its priorities and impact over the coming years.

Note: For ease of understanding, we have changed the term ‘Sabbatical Officer’ to ‘Full-time Student Officer’. A Sabbatical Officer is a student or recent graduate who has taken a year's break from University to lead the Students' Union. This is a full-time and paid position.
