It's happening! Astonbury 2023 will be taking place on Friday, 9th June and we can't wait. Read the full statement...
Hello All,
I am delighted to announce that this year, we are hosting our very own summer festival version – Astonbury 2023 on the 9th of June, 2023 at our very Aston Campus.
After several conversations and feedback from different groups of students, we felt there is a need to celebrate the end of the year which serves as an opportunity for everyone to get together in one place. The consistent feedback of students from many surveys was – ‘lack of sense of community’ and we are confident that with Astonbury, we’ll be able to bring that to you by creating a space where you can, as a community, celebrate #OneAston. Astonbury existed few years back, and after a long break, we are now revamping and designing it for current students’ tastes.
Aston University has shown great support throughout this process of onboarding this giant event. Without their support, we wouldn’t have been able to move this swiftly. Now with 15 more weeks to go, ideas are forming, meetings are happening, and a solid plan is being built as we speak. I’d like to thank the university in giving us the confidence and guidance to putting this event together. Along with the university, we have tied up with Clearwaters, an external event organising company who have been extremely efficient and swift in coordinating with us to make this happen.
We are releasing the date now to make sure you have it in your calendars and plan around this event so you can attend it with your friends. My constant effort was to make sure this date is set as early as practically possible so students and staff have enough notice and can plan their summer holidays accordingly. I am hoping every one of you would join us in this celebration. I am also keen to bring special focus on our amazing clubs and societies and will be working with them closely to make them an integral part of this celebration.
Going forward we’ll be reaching out to our clubs and societies, local businesses, city council and other relevant authorities to ensure the best experience students can have with this event. I am excited to be a part of this entire journey and going forward, will be updating you on the status of this event whenever I can.
