Who are the Aston Stags & Sharks?
Stags:
The largest sporting club at Aston, with 3 established and successful BUCS squads including the 2019-20 2nd team champions, a 4th XI development squad who play in the FA universities development league, as well as a wide range of social football, 6-a-side leagues, weekly socials, and other huge social events!
- Winners of the Club Charity & Volunteering Impact award in 2020-21 ASU Awards
- 2nd Team Champions in 2019-20
- Consistently Varsity winners against our massive rivals (recently 3-0 Stags win in June 2021)
Squad training is on Monday evening and Friday evening. Please only come to these if you have been asked to from our trials or personally by the captains.
Wednesday is host to our BUCS fixtures and Wednesday evening is host to our weekly social event.
Thursday we have our 6 a side intra-mural league. This is open to all members of Aston University and is an intramural league run by our IMF Coordinators ------. Please contact them for further information.
Friday is host to our social football, weekly 6-a-side for all of our 'active' level members. This saves you over the year a lot of money, and also allows you to socialise and meet new people. You do not need a team for this you can just turn up and play.
This year we're taking on the success of the social side from last year and making it even bigger! Our biggest social calendar yet, there will be loads going on! You can expect the usual debauchery seen at our weekly socials, PJ Hop, Bar Crawl with Netball, England national games, 'Stags in the city' where we take a coach to a secret city in the country for a night out, AU Ball, as well as our yearly TOUR. The Stags embark on a 'development tour' to experience the fine culture and football of a European country.
Everyone is welcome, irrespective of ability so get your boots on and come join us. We have something for everyone!
The Sharks:
Welcome to the Sharks, Aston University's women's football team! We are an inclusive and competitive team, welcoming players of all skill levels.
We’re proud to have been awarded Club of the Year 2023, Most Inclusive Club 2022, and Most Improved Club 2022. We're also the BCFA Female University Cup Champions and Varsity Champions.
Whether you’ve been playing for years or are new to football, we’d love for you to join us. Our training sessions are designed to be fun, friendly, and a great way to improve your skills and fitness.
Training Schedule:
- Monday: 7:00pm – 8:00pm at the ASV Pitch (on campus)
- Thursday: 8:00pm – 9:00pm at the ASV Pitch (on campus)
We compete every week in BUCS matches on Wednesdays, followed by our Wednesday night socials – the perfect chance to get together, have fun, and unwind.
