Hi there, we are Aston Jiu Jitsu.
We are a martial arts club that teaches practical self-defence in a safe and friendly environment. We welcome everyone to come and train with us whether it’s your first time or you’re on your way to becoming a Dan. It is a great way to keep yourself fit, make new friends and build your confidence.
The club was initially founded by Sensei Milan Ilic in 1989, but since 1999 has been led by Sensei Eric Lau, who became a 5th Dan in 2019, as well as a team of senseis that include Sensei Paul Glebioska and Sensei Suraj Soren. Our club is part of the Jiu Jitsu Foundation, the largest Jiu Jitsu body of clubs in the UK, which means we have strong links with other clubs within the region and nationally.
Training takes place in a safe environment with a friendly atmosphere that encourages everyone, male and female, novice to senior grade, who steps into our dojo to learn, at a pace that suits them. The success of this club can easily be judged not only by the quality of teaching on the mat but also by the number of senior grades and instructors it has produced in the past 15 years. We are also very proud of our achievements at national events, where our members have managed to win medals at both events ranging from gold to bronze.
Our training times are:
Mondays and Wednesdays 7.30 -9.30pm @ The Sir Doug Ellis Woodcock Sports Centre
The first two sessions are FREE so there's nothing to lose! Come and give us a try !!!
